Kalinchowk is located at the height of 3842 m height from sea level in the northern part of Nepal. It lies in the Kalinchowk rural municipality ward no.1 of Dolakha district. Kalinchowk lies about 145 km away from Kathmandu, the Capital of Nepal, and about 17 km from Charikot Bazar, the headquarter of the Dolakha district. From Charikot Bazar, local vehicles are not available but vehicles can be reserved up to the Kuri Village and should hike about 1/2 hours from there to reach Kalinchowk Bhagawati.

Kalinchowk is a hill station and tourist hotspot. Similarly, it has religious value and is a popular pilgrimage site for both Hindu and Buddhists. During winter, most of the area near Kuri village including Kalinchowk Bhagawati is covered by snow. It is the best time to visit Kalinchowk as most of the people go there to enjoy and play snow during their holidays. The best month to visit Kalinchowk is December, January, and February or Paush and Magh according to Nepali calender. There are many hotels and lodges with abundant facilities. One can also directly book the hotels before starting the trip. As Kalinchowk lies at very high altitudes, one may catch up with altitude sickness, frost, fractures due to injuries while walking offroad. There are no proper medical facilities in Kalinchowk. So it would be better if we take care of all the medical needs in Charikot.

Taking about the clothes that we should carry while we are marching towards Kalinchowk, it would be best if we manage down jackets, warm coats, and broken-in hiking boots.
Besides Kalinchowk serine and snow, there are other few factors that one should not miss during their trips to Kalinchowk. We can enjoy the beautiful view of the magnificent mountain panorama apart from cloudy and foggy days. Similarly, we can also see lots of rhododendron trees of various species and enjoy the view of Salla Ghari. Churpi or Durkha is also one of the famous items which are made from yak milk and we can easily purchase them from a local shop. Apart from this Yak Sukuti is also a popular dish in the Kalinchowk area. Yak Sukuti is basically dry meat of yak. It is easily available in local hotels and local settlements.
